opinions and subterfuge

It has not been easy for me to do what I did. I was in a Lose/lose situation, where the guild was about to fall into the hands of an unchivalrous patron who was manipulating 5 of my guild members. Any evil person here in achaea has one choice if they want a god to watch over them. The rest of them are sleeping. Infernals are no different, and Twilight is an active recruiter. Each city office, each guild office and every influential person, is likely to be approached. He is good at what He does and believe it or not this is not a critisism, but a complement. That whole voyria thing was causing me migranes, I could simply not explain how I could kill a man with a venom I havent used since before I was even married. I am confident now that it was not I who killed Israfel in that duel and that the entire fight was a set up.
Most of all, I am sorry for Ryvern. He has lost 1/3 of his guild skills permanently and the remaining 2/3 went to his other skills. When Achaea bites into your wallet, it is not just an alternate universe anymore. He gambled and he lost, and though I believe he brought upon himself, it is none the less most regrettable. Ryvern, I wish it could have been avoided. But I stand by my choice as the correct one, or at least the lesser of two evils. Twilight is an extrememly talented God, but in my opinion one of the worst choices for a patron the Infernals could have. We are based on chivalry, and He is based on deciet.
One could argue, that the Infernals are not -mine- as one of my wise advisors has pointed out, and that if the guild votes for a new GM and brings in a patron, they should have the right to try. I agree wholeheartedly, and had it been a regular election, I would have enjoyed the race. This was not the voice of the guild speaking, it was the voice of three infiltrators, and their aids, who have been planing this coup for years if not months to deliver yet another plumb to their god.
My choice was between freedom to vote and the protection of the remainder of the guild and its traditions. Both, arguably in the "best interest of the guild". Five people set out to change the guild, but they do not represent the guild as a whole. I do. I had to make a very fast descision based on little information and I had to act quickly. The guild -is- my main concern, not my own prestige as Napoloen claims (for with Twilight at my heels, prestige is certainly worth the price I am paying). I am fighting a battle with a God and all of His minions, and I would not hang in there if I were not an idealist at heart. My concern was for the guild as a whole, and the spies/infiltrators/saboteurs were cut down in a most uneligant way.
As I said, it was a lose/lose situation, and this was the best I could make of it. Our guild is weak and bleeding, and the winds howl about our heads, but having been given time and more information, I am sure that this was the right move at the right time.
Once again, I lift my voice to the Garden and ask for an advocate. Aegis has left us, and Sartan seemingly still sleeps. Is there a God or Goddess who will help me put the guild back together after this attack? Sartan? Will You ever hear my voice Lord? You burned for Your flock once, surely. Will You return and give my guild members an alternative to Twilight?

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Aeguary, in the year 247 AF.
