ecclesiatical aggression

It has been with a growing sense of frustration and irritation that I have
observed recent actions of the Church and its adherents, ranging from the
flouting of venoms declared illegal by the serpent guilds (to the detriment of
many in Sapience) to the bullying of citizens of Hashan and others over the
issue of what these citizens may or may not do in a territory that, if push
came to shove, would fall well within the purview of the city-state of Hashan.
Now, I am informed that a shrine has been erected within the precincts of
the City itself! I have made it clear, time and again, that we will not tolerate
this. I have even forbidden members of the Serpentlords guild from creating
wormholes with termini in Shallam, in the mistaken belief that good faith would
be met in kind.
Now, I find myself beseiged by questions from citizens who wish to know what
their leaders will do to protect them and their home from the outright aggression
that they believe surely must follow upon the heels of these provcative acts by
the alleged bastion of righteousness that is the Church.
In answer to them, and to these arrogant aggressors, I tell you that I am
compelled to action lest our tolerance be misnamed weakness. I am
engaged in consultations with the Council of Regents of Hashan on the
matter of a formal declaration of war. However, pending resolution of those
consultations, I believe that I can still say that there now exists a state of
hostility between Hashan and the Church and its allies. Enough is enough.
You are hereby warned.
