Shrines

Shrines are a Right. Just as wormholes are a Right. Just as Empress
is a Right. This Right is based upon the fact that the Gods have
created and placed at our disposal these skills. One might even go
so far as to say that the use of any of these skills is, in fact, a
form of worship to the Gods themselves and therefore their use becomes
a religious act. Simply because there is an organized institution
called the 'Church' does not make a shrine or its use anymore
'religious' than the use of any skill that we have been granted.

Here is the conundrum.... The Church claims that shrines are sacred
ground and are used for purposes of 'Good' and to enlighten those who
tread an 'Evil' path. Members of the Church erect shrines to gain
greater offensive/defensive abilities and for, everyone's pet peeve,
convocating. The skills which are associated with shrines are tools
of a Holy War. A war against anyone and anything which the Church
stands against. Therefore the Church and its members not only use
so called 'sacred ground' for purposes of destruction -
they also use 'Religion' as grounds for acts of aggression.

Now, on the other hand, we have the Immortal words of Aurora intoning
a serious Divine Retribution for using temples as a place of refuge
after committing an act of aggression. It seems that these two
concepts are at odds. Either shrines are not the purely 'Good'
and 'sanctified' institutions that the Church claims them to be
or Aurora is wrong. I, for one, thank Aurora and all the Gods for
granting me the powers that I have and for making a defining statement
concerning the correct use of a 'sacred' area. From what I can tell,
the Church not only continues to use shrines as bases for aggression
but it also seems to flaunt that power and its uses in the faces of
all the Gods.
