Sorry it took so long to get back to respond to your post #4911, but the SHAPE of Achaea, whether flat or arced, makes little difference in the distance you may perceive to the stars vis a vis Ashtan/Shallam.

The clue to your dilemna lies in the very forests in which you dwell, ie...if the Stars in Shallam seem further away than they do in Ashtan, it's for the same reason that the trees in Ithmia lean toward that Illustrious Domicile, to wit:....Ashtan sucks.
