I was just about to write about how we should only stick to the known
facts of this world and back up Dingo's claims of Sapience being flat.
How each of us can walk to the ends of the Land and find oceans
bounding us to the east, southeast, and west. The Sangre Plains
bounding the north and the Vashnars bounding the south. Only the Gods
know what is past our limited frontier and only They can solve this
riddle. I was going to ask the others who 'claim' to be from other
lands to take me on a voyage there. I would be most willing to pay
whatever sum they asked just to see these places that I have yet to
find. I was most unwilling to believe, based on second hand
knowledge, that these places do/did indeed exist. Then, while
reading through the public scrolls to get to the last one and help
Dingo in his argument, I read scroll #4915. Gunthar, now known as
Bocephus, has unwittingly given proof of the existence of other
lands. This proof comes from the only person that I know of in
Sapience who can truely claim to have sailed the seas, the old
Sailor that lives in the tavern off the docks in Ashtan. I now
believe that there are lands which we have been unable to discover.
I would highly suggest that Dingo come to Ashtan and take the matter
of a Flat vs. Round Sapience up with the sailor. Although he does
stay drunk most of the time and really seems to care for nothing in
this world except his continuosly missing parrot Reggie, you might
be able to glean some fruitful information from this local source.
As for 'proof positive' on whether the world is flat or round, I
would be willing to enter into a grand experiment with you where one
of us gains passage to the hidden isle of Shulla-Khulia and the other
stays in the most eastern part of known Sapience. As the dawn
breaks and the sun 'balanc(es) on the rim of the world', we can yell
out whether or not this occurs simultaneously. True, this experiment
will not sufficiently give proof of whether Sapience is flat or round
but it will place us firmly on the path to a better understanding of
our world.
