And what if your heart tells you to follow another person, God, city, etc.?
I believe the freedom you seek is the ability to chose what you do with your life. But if you chose nothing, and commit to nothing you are not using your freedom. Of course you could commit yourself to not committing, but you then restrict yourself in another way.
You will always have restrictions and commitments, the freedom is influencing/deciding which ones those are. You must live with the restrictions put on you (breathing?) and those you put on yourself (to friends, family, guild, God, city, etc.).
Commitment is simply a part of life.
Have fun committing to living your life without committing,
Tim
