Kona says: "Words rarely live up to what they are meant to describe." and "Words are insufficient."

I reply that words are not meant to be that which they describe, but only to make reference. To claim that words are poor because they are not what they describe is similar to claiming that a sword is useless because it cannot be used to tie a knot. Words are often aids to understanding, though occasionally they can cause difficulty
else discussions and books, which are made entirely of words, would not be so popular among accomplished scholars. Does not much instruction that comes of the Gods come in the form of words?

The word "chaos" is not Chaos, the thing. So what? It is nonetheless useful as a way of referencing the thing. In this very discussion we have all effectively used the word chaos and the word has had some definite meaning to each of us even if none save Eris has perfect understanding of it. It is not necessary that words do any more than reference.

Let us put some of your convictions to the test. Do you not trust the Goddess' WORDS regarding chaos? Defining chaos being impossible as it is, did the Goddess Herself not define chaos sufficiently? I think that while the words contained in her definition are not themselves the complete essence of chaos, they are useful as a definition in the same way as all definitions are - as aids to understanding.
