re: Shades of Grey

As Dream observed, "[An inquisition] cannot be averted, because of one simple thing, the members of the church believe that the ends justify the means."

Just so. I respectfully disagree, however, that we Infernals are just as bad, on the grounds that the means we use are consonant with our ends. (You seemed to have suggested something similar, though different in tone, in saying "they tend not to justify their actions.") While members of the Church frequently kill that killing may be ended, we do not engage in such patently idiotic excuse-making. (If we did, you might expect that we would feign kindness to the Church as a stepping-stone to destroying them, for instance. As honor compels, we use methods which do not sacrifice that which we value.)

The more the willingness of the Church to use force and cruelty as means, the closer it comes to being a strong asset for Sartan. Thus I urge the church: by all means, be cruel, use force, in short, be evil! My only other desire would be that the Church should also take up honor in earnest, at best an improbable hope.

As both the Infernals, by way of their charter, and the Church, by way of hypocrisy, have shown, both parties intend to war brutally. I advise Dream that there are many herbs which can improve one's sleep. (I seem to recall Seasone mentioning this at some point.)

In Sincerity, Bauk.

Penned by my hand on the 5th of Chronos, in the year 240 AF.
