Live and let live.

Do not bend words, Isildur. The statement "live and let live" is clearly distinguishable from "kill people if you feel you have justification."

A man who follows the maxim "live and let live" will do as he wishes with the caveat that he allow others the same ability. He will mind his own business and take care not to disturb the business of others, except perhaps in defense of his private interests. If you really intend to "live and let live" you might take lessons from the Druids, who are closer by far to this ideal than the Church is.

It is not a point of contention that the Infernals do not "live and let live." We make no bones about our policy
we destroy the weak that All may advance.

The difference is that we do not claim to live and let live, while you persist in claiming, beyond reason, that you do. The policy of the Church is and has always been one that has involved interference with other guilds and cities, and to say otherwise is to lie. Your aggression on the part of worthless fish-grubbers conforms no more to "live and let live" than does our elimination of them. You cannot without hypocrisy enforce live and let live upon others against their will, for to do so violates the spirit of the maxim.

Last I checked, the welfare of the church is scarcely dependent on the welfare of the citizens of Shastanna. Fighting us on their part is not, strictly speaking, "fighting back" but execution of church policy. As we all know, the Church will have its policy enforced by any means available.
But the end justifies the means, does it not?

Bauk.
