treaty

I apologize for writing this so long after the fact, but I have
been away from the lands for a time. This is, of course, in response
to the actions of Pierce and Tylin, and the subsequent postings of
so many, including Sarapis. Here is my view on the matter.
The purpose of a treaty is to stop a war and to provide concessions
so that one does not occur again. However, as everyone knows, those
concessions outlined in every treaty are not always perfect, and cannot
solve every conflict, and that is why wars always occur again, at some
time or another. This treaty, obviously, was far from perfect. There
was no direct wording saying there were to be no conflicts, nor any
direct wording on punishment of convocation. These are just two of the
many missing parts of the treaty that I mention. Therefore, Tylin did
NOT break the treaty by attacking Shallamites, and Pierce DID break the
treaty by Convocating him (by wording of the treaty). HOWEVER, neither
of the two were under the treaty at the time of their actions. Tylin, by
his own act of declaring war, negated the treaty for himself, and thus,
no matter how well or poorly written any treaty could be, it would not
have covered his actions or those of whoever acted against him. As he
said himself, it was him alone that declared war, not Ashtan, the Kharon,
or any other group, so it is him alone that is excluded from the
treaty. As is the way with treaties, once one side does not recognize
its existence, it would be stupid and foolhardy for the other side to
do so. So, as far as Tylin is concerned, he is no longer (as of his
declaring war) covered under the treaty, and neither are the actions of
those who work against him. The treaty is still intact as far as
everyone else is concerned (to my knowledge), although it is still sadly
in need of being rewritten.
