The story of the Longshanks

The wolfish grin he turned on me really was quite unsettling. "Perhaps I could speak with Dessa to allow her to give me her own viewpoint of her youth. I realize you do not wish to stay any longer, Galdrion," and I certainly could not wait to leave, "but Halcyon said to be sure to ask you about one of your poetic works in particular. One that only a few Sentinels had heard, but that she wished to be included in my work. It is how you proposed to her, I believe."
x I could not believe what my eyes were telling me, as I looked at Galdrion. I had spent hours in the room with this gruff man, although he certainly had a sense of humor which often bubbled to the surface, he remained confident and self assured. His face now, however, was a very deep crimson.
Galdrion cleared his breath after a slight coughing fit. "Well, now, I uhm. . .I don't seem to recall the whole of it, and I wouldn't want to do Halcyon any injustice by giving it to you half and half mistaken."
"Oh, I just wanted to run it by you to make sure I had it correct. Halcyon has already given it to me."
. I was unaware a man could blush past red to a shade of what must be considered purple.

. I did not search, I did not seek
But still it seems I found
An angel with a heart of gold
That day I heard that sound

. I left Wolfhaven's sheltering boughs
To find my sirens song
. I came upon sweet Halcyon
'Tis where my heart belongs

. I gave a dress of velvet red
The finest in the land
And now I have this band of gold
To place upon her hand

On every day in every way
She has so blessed my life
And now I ask on bended knee
Will you become my wife?

"Harumph, well that. . . I suppose. . . hmmm. . . I don't really believe it necessary to include that in your writings, scribe," said a very unsettled Galdrion.
"I certainly appreciate your time, Galdrion, if you would just direct me to where I might find Dessa I think we can conclude our discussions, as I have already made arrangements to speak with Perseon."
"There is a mossy dell in the Black Forest where she spends much of her time, with an honoured Sentinel named Darragon. I'm sure of man of your intellect will not have any trouble locating it." With that Galdrion grasped my hand in an almost painful grip and strode out the door.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Daedalan, in the year 235 AF.
