Re the interminable Hashan controversy

Greetings. I agree that the messages on this board regarding the conflict
between Hashan and those who allegedly protect the Forests have become
quite monotonous, not to mention fruitless. . .so I will keep this short and to
the point.

I am Tsol'aa, and few among the mortal races love the Forests as much as
we. The Forest sings in our very blood, and we are diminished without their
sheltering Grace. I am also a citizen of Hashan, the put upon stepchild of
Sapience. My impulse is to want to work together, for such collaboration
is the very ideal of Hashan, so that both the Forests and the City which it
holds in its bosom might mutually benefit from their association.
For, barring extreme and injudicious divine intervention, that association
will not cease to be. Hashan is where it is, and the Forest is where it is,
and it is pointless to wish otherwise.

I have seen voice after strident voice taking hard positions, unwilling
to work together or compromise. I have seen other voices, counseling
prudence, compassion and wisdom drowned out by the contentious
clamour. It is as though these gentler voices never uttered a word, such
is the toxic atmosphere surrounding this issue.

Which brings me to my point. . .and a question. . .from the start of my
my interest in this issue, I have been nettled with a niggling suspicion.
And that suspicion is that the core of this issue has more to do with
political concerns than ecological ones. My suspicion is that this battle
involves means and motives that stretch beyond mortal ken.
My question is. . .is everyone clear on what they are "fighting" for . . .
and why? Does the concept of "consequences" mean anything here?
