It pains me greatly, child, to have been the instrument of your death.
My soul shall forever be blemished by this act. Why you started this
combat with me, I do not know. I begged and begged you to cease your
unprovoked attacks on me and, finally, I had no choice but to strike
back. Since you are quite obviously much more skilled than I, I can
only thank the gods themselves for granting me the victory in that
fight. But I cannot be proud of causing the death of anyone, even in
self defense, and I hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me
one day. Let this be a lesson to us all that the gods watch over those
of us who are meek and mild, and those who choose the path of the bully
may find themselves facing the wrath of the righteous and just.
