On behalf of the Somnia, the Divine Order of Lady Valnurana, and with thanks to the Asterian Restoration and Lord Scarlatti, I extend to you an invitation to join us for a revival of a centuries-old tradition: the Festival of Masks.

As the realm of unconscious thought and feeling, the Dream is unbound by the physical laws of Creation and by rational thought, and abides instead by the metaphysical rule of sense and symbol. Within that ocean of refracted possibility every thing is many things at once, and we mortals are no exception. The Festival of Masks explores a spectrum of emotions as a gesture toward a broader spectrum of selves. I encourage those of you who attend to think of your mask not as a false face but as a means of foregrounding, or perhaps manifesting, one of your many true ones.

The festival will commence three days after the Serenade of this upcoming Valnuary, Her holy month, when the boundary twixt Dream and Wake is thinnest. It is to be held within Her temple in the Vashnars in the misty chamber just northeast of the entrance (coordinates 7669). If you possess a suitable mask of your own you are encouraged to bring it with you; if not it is no concern, for we will have many to choose from.
