The project:
The Gap Between Perspectives is a study on translation, recognition, and abstract form.

I invite you to write me a letter about someone in your life: who they are, not merely what they look like. In return, I'll create a selection of sculptural forms for the writers and their muses to wander among, to see if they can find themselves or who they have described.

How to write your letter:
Choose a person you know well and describe them without naming them or making it obvious. These prompts may help:
What are their postures, behaviours, and mannerisms?
What is their pace? Do they rush, drift, or hold still?
How do they enter a room or sit?
What do they do with their hands when they're thinking, nervous, or happy?
What do they hold onto, literally or figuratively?
What would surprise someone who only knew them slightly?
Do they remind you of a texture, a weight, a kind of light, or a smell?
What is their physical presence like (tall, small, how they take up space)?
At the end, you may add a list of colours and textures connected to them, such as hair, eyes, skin, fur, scales, or a favourite colour, without saying which is which.

Please send your letter anonymously, without your name on it or via personal letterhead. Instead, inside the same envelope, include a second, separate note with your name. This lets me sculpt without knowing who wrote what, and allows artist to guess writer and muse alongside everyone else.

What happens next:
Depending on how many arrive, I may sculpt in batches. I'm hoping for around ten submissions for one viewing. Once the forms are complete, writers will be invited to bring their muse to wander the works.
