Before all thrones, beyond all crowns

To Sapience and its cities: to Hallowed Targossas, the Guardians' Hearth, to Hashan, Court of Shadows, to Cyrene, Oceanus' Gate, to Mhaldor, City of Evil, and to Ashtan, Seat of Chaos.

To their rulers, magistrates, Ambassadors; their royalty, gentry, and honest citizenry; their adventurers, denizens, and any others who should hear or read these words, I extend my greetings to you.

Behind all the stations and dignities mentioned above, there is to be found a mortal individual. The following words are directed to those of you with a will to shape for yourselves an existence to take pride in, a life free from the machinations of civilisation, instead attuned to the thrumming of Nature's beating heart.

Long before all mortal thrones, and far beyond all mortal crowns, exists the restrained dominance of Nature. It is to the unyielding cycles we owe our existence, to their cautious nascence, rampant expanse, golden deadfall and vital decline. It is also to those glorious wilds that the debt of our borrowed days will inevitably be settled.

No monument raised by mortal hands shall escape the patient work of root, rain, and time. Not the magnificent spires of the East, raised in worship of distant Light. Not the imposing fortresses of the West, built to endure in Evil's name. The earth receives all structures equally as the temporary arrangements they are, whether they were raised by the sincere or pious, the cruel or indifferent. All of them are borrowed, and all of them are due.

The Viridian Charter, presented to Eleusis by the Wildwood Queen, invites you to another interpretation of purpose. For those of you who toil toward unclear objectives, who suffer under the oppression of misplaced ethos or stagger beneath unending bureaucracy masquerading as the lawful foundation of some cities, another path is revealed.

To those of you with sharpened ears and a receptive mind, the Viridian Charter removes the notion of civilisation as the apex of mortal achievement, and introduces the simpler fact that we are all transient guests upon the same soil. To those who would leave the artificial constructs of iron and stone behind, the wild welcomes both the exile and the exile's pursuer with equal grace, and will shape each of them according to their willingness to listen.

In that shaping lies the promise of Eleusis. Those who listen will find that whatever divisions they carry to our threshold dissolve beneath Nature's influence. In their place grows a kinship born of shared devotion to the living world, and a life lived in harmony with the eternal cycles that sustain us all.

I challenge you, Sapience. Be you ruler or subject, willing or bound to your station, there is no lasting future to be found within the constraints of civilisation. Lay down the tasks that have been placed upon you within your cities, for they serve only to accelerate the erosion of the world. Find instead your strength in the relentless treasure of Nature, and your efforts will find their proper momentum in its celebration.

To the savage hearts that will hear this call, I summon you to the wild that civilisation has so often sought to master. Before all thrones, and beyond all crowns, the glory of Her realm persists: claim your space within the cycles, or become a memory.

Come, and I will be among the first to proudly greet you.
