Competing with Mhaldor

Distradhith, Mhaldor,

It is pleasing to hear of some stirring coming from your nation. Ever is it welcomed for a mortal to choose to act, to agitate the world into further motion, and- for those faithful and hopeful- to then know despair.

And why will you know despair? Because despair is born of disappointment, and disappointment is the child of hope and failure entwined. And what hope do you have in inviting those you claim to be deplorable heathens, those who themselves consider your city to be a graveyard of potential, to willingly play into your truths? What options do you give your participants but to perform liturgies of Evil, bound by your restrictions? What will the victors take back to their lands beyond your dubious teachings? You could as well simply invite them to come and be bound into your shackles.

So yes, you will see empty streets and calls unanswered, and know despair. Let it be enjoyed once you taste it, for despair begets disenchantment, and disenchantment is the root of realisation, a precursor of enlightenment.

But on the chance that you are not yet ready for your enlightenment, I will give you a proposal most beneficial to your clinging faith, a path to tread if you seek a different route. Stand your guards down, that they are briefly freed of their trembling, fear-driven duty of forestalling your doom. Lift the restrictions of your upcoming exercise, and huddle at your nation's gates. When our force arrives to meet your challenge and raise its tattered banners over your walls, we shall take from your city our lessons of cruelty and dominion, and you will have your lessons of subjugation and pain.

In Ruin.
