Warm summer tidings.
The Guild of Knights recognizes your claim to leadership over the Rian lineage, and you will hold our particular gratitude should your efforts be successful.
There are families whose triumphs and tales of glory have long echoed through the myriad halls that have been home to the knights of the realm; bloodlines for whom there was an expectation of a higher standard, whether the dreaded Aristata knights of the Maldaathi or the Devis of the Doomguard.
For the better part of a millennium, the Rians were one such family; while their surname did not necessarily indicate knighthood, it nonetheless conveyed a certain quality of character and of prowess. Its weight, and its gravity, noted that the bearer was always a particularly-pious or otherwise talented devotee of the eastern pantheon.
And, indeed, there were plenty of knights among them.
The annals of my kind's history could scarcely be written without Rians of yore. Sir Lorias, Lady Czanthria, Sirs Heska, Draekar, and Aaseth, Ladies Phae and Deeva both - these are names that not only helped to forge the world we inhabit today, but that left a particular mark on the tree of knighthood.
And so the realm of knighthood has mourned, for one of the fonts of great eastern knights was severed; wrested from its purpose, used for ill gains, and now entering into the second century of being dragged through the mud through degradations great and small.
We will hope for success in your quest to restore pride to one of the great houses of the lands. Whether it ever again produces a great knight, only time will tell, but your success alone would bring a measure of quiet justice to a loss that has been felt acutely within our ranks.
In strength,
Sir Aodfionn Wintermourne
The Knight Arbiter
