An Invitation

Written by: Tu'eras, the Tsol'aa King

Addressed to: Everyone

I am hosting a party and a potluck on the day before my deadline with Mhaldor, because if I am going to be marched to a line in the sand, I may as well arrive with a plate in hand and a cup already full.

All are welcome, with a few very deliberate exceptions:

Mhaldor is not invited. Lord Abstain is not invited. Targossas' weird baby is not invited. Ashtan is welcome, except for anyone above the rank of Centurion. Except for Theosis; she is invited.

Everyone else, come. Bring something to share. Bring food that can survive being judged. Bring drink, bring alcohol, bring whatever passes for cheer in your hands. If you cannot cook, bring bread, fruit, cheese, something pickled, something smoked, something that proves you made an effort beyond showing up hungry.

You may call it a farewell, you may call it a wake in advance, you may call it a petty little celebration. I will call it a table, and I will set it with the people I actually want around me, while I still get to choose.
