To clarify,
Ashtan was never interested in conquering the Aalen, and indeed never even attempted it. The Eldritch Empire of Ruin conquered most everywhere on Sapience at one point or another, but never the Aalen.
Had we truly desired to, we would have.
The idea that we were concerned with the Aalen at all was a lie concocted by Laorir to stir sentiment against the Seat when we conquered the Vashnars en route to the Garden. Alas, They fixed the hole in Their wards which would have permitted us to raise a beacon upon the doorstep of the Garden before we could again attempt it.
Imagine! Had he simply told the truth, as surely one so enamoured of Shallam ought, the gods Themselves might have halted our march to empire.
Further, Ashtan actively assisted in repelling the undead invasion which raised its former king. Why am I so certain? I reviewed my own records of the fight when first we read this bit of propaganda disguised as history and gave them to Eoka to refute it. I wish I could feel some surprise at its continued erroneousness.
Anyway, carry on. This is the most entertaining the Public news has been in years.
