I am not much inclined to litter the Public boards with my personal life but ask for indulgence as I clarify a misstatement that was recently made about me.

I did not desire to hurt my community on the way out. I did not even desire to leave. On the contrary  the choice to act, to avert catastrophe for Eleusis was made first. The choice between doing that anonymously and going about my business while feigning ignorance, or acting openly and losing my home, came second. The space between the two was punctuated by a brief fantasy of finding some solution through politics.

I still believe that there are plenty of citizens in Hashan who would not be popping champagne once responsible for the mass destruction of civilians and their homes. And so, although initially my final act there did feel like a betrayal, I increasingly view it as a gift. Whether a single Hashani will ever see it that way, whether that worst outcome was ever going to or still may happen, whether my actions made the slightest bit of difference, perhaps only the Divine know. I was not going to risk being complicit either way. All of Sapience shares a duty to act with conviction.

Those who dare to peek over their walls and outside of their gates may find that even fierce adversaries, upon closer examination, share many similarities. Reckoning with our differences is unavoidable, but the shape of that conflict is ours to choose.
