A reintroduction to ritual duelling and the Carmine Circle

Hail, Sapience.

Many of you may have heard of the practice of ritual duelling, or even had the chance to try your hand at it yourself. Those of you who belong to cities may also have heard news of ritual duelling workshops I have been organising to spread awareness of the practice.

But if none of the above describes you, allow myself to provide an official introduction.

Created over two centuries past, ritual duelling is a tradition that highlights the inherent artistry of battle rather than its outcome. In these contests, duelists focus on speed, creativity, and expression - and may draw on everything from skill and weapon to environment and enchantment - to present an entertaining spectacle of battle.

The Carmine Circle (CLHELP TCCIRCLE) was founded in 754AF to spread the practice of ritual duelling throughout the world. As a non-aligned clan independent of factional ties, we have gathered duelists from every city and even the Village within our ranks to do battle within Sabarian Hall, a facility near Xhaiden Dale purpose-built for ritual duelling. (Public news #20181)

Eleven years later, we hosted the inaugural edition of the Sanguine Series - a global ritual duelling tournament - in which Stheno Aristata emerged triumphant. (Public news #20184)

But the duelists of that age have long fallen to slumber, and a new generation with new talent has emerged. It is long past time, in my estimation, for a new Series...and a new Champion.

Preparations and negotiations are already underway for the second Series, its format currently in flux. In the meantime, however, I have witnessed first-hand the depth of ritual duelling talent and the enthusiasm from the various cities in my workshops. Thus, I expand my call to the general public.

I will make myself available both to run more ritual duelling workshops at Sabarian Hall over the next few years. If you are interested in learning to ritual duel and missed the first workshops, send myself a message and I will coordinate a session that you can be present for. Rogues in particular - this call is for you.

Otherwise, if you require a duelling partner or Arbiter for a duel, I am also able to fulfill these roles.

All are welcome and encouraged to participate. You may seek out the tome 'The Art of Ritual Duelling' in your city library or within Sabarian Hall (map coordinates 39666) for further reading. Those with an interest may also seek myself out for membership in the Carmine Circle, where you can issue open challenges for duels with others at any time.

I hope to see you there. Further information on the Series will be revealed as it progresses.

For the thrill of battle,
