Time for me to speak

Hello Achaeans

I am sorry to have to bring this to your forum, but as I have been discussed here for a few days, I have decided to bring the whole truth to you so that you might know Charnley's reasons for outguilding me... and my answer. I apologize for the length of this post. I have included Charnley's ACTUAL post with his words preceeded by his name. My responses are surrounded with dashes and relate to the paragraph just above them as I hope will be obvious. I would have posted this to the guild board if that had been an option.

Please do not outguild another innocent member for my having received this post, Charnley. I will not betray who passed it along to me. A few guildmembers offered to inguild me so that I might respond, but I didn't wish to bring your wrath on any more good druids who happen to disagree with you.

Here is his post and my comments:

(Charnley) If anyone thinks I outguilded Claryssa solely for the Kitra incident then they are sorely mistaken - so I am going to try and give you a knowledge of my reasoning in this matter.

(Charnley) Last night it became apparent the Claryssa had used my name as a back-up to her arguament - that I had said Kitra should shut up over the Sartan/Aurora affair. Now, personally I think Kitra is in the wrong over the Sartan affair, and yes I have said to Claryssa, and on GT, that we should respect all deities. I did not say that Kitra should shut up, and Claryssa was bang out of line for using my name in this way. A little personal grievance on my part maybe, and therefore not enough to outguild someone. Some may say that it is enough reason, and in other guilds it would be out you go, but I shall continue anyway.

----- Charnley was offered a log by myself and a neutral druid, but refused to take it. If he had bothered to read it and get some FACTS, he would have seen that the only context which I used his name was to remind Rahl, not Kitra, that Charnley had agreed with me and many others online the night before about the appropriate way to handle a situation with a certain deity. This is true and can be verified with the many who were on at that time.------

(Charnley) Claryssa has stated that loyalty in the guild is important, but not so if it invovles laying down your life to protect your fellow druids. I find this the attitude of someone of little use to the guild.

------Actually I never said this and the very thought of it is ridiculous to any who know me. I have given my life on many occasions to save total strangers not to mention guildmates and friends as many of you can attest. What I said was that I was not willing to "kill" for the guild and I said this PRIOR to my inguilding and was inguilded anyways. As a follower of Oneiros I will not betray his ideals. I also said it was foolish to disrespect a god and draw his attention to the guild and cause the death of some guildmembers. Again, if Charnley had realized that there are 2 sides to every story and bothered to ask, he would have known this.-----

(Charnley) Furthermore, and here is perhaps the real reason. Since I have became GM I have lost Haidion, Escherheye, Firefox, Rahl and Kitra. The last 3 have subsequently came back. None of these 5 (except maybe Escherheye, although I am not sure) seem to blame me for leaving the guild. And while not all blame Claryssa, her name keeps appearing in messages and tells from disgruntled druids. Others have talked about leaving the guild, others are talking about leaving the guild.

------I find this very interesting. It is implied that I somehow caused all of these people to leave the guild. Eschereheye is my dear friend and sister and she did not leave because of me but because of my accuser, Charnley. Haidion I do not know and his post supporting me suggests that I did not drive him away. I am not sure why Firefox left but he returned and has been very friendly with me.. even going so far as to set a goal to empty my shop.... and did it too! Why would someone want to put money in the hand of an enemy? And for the record, Firefox agreed with me about Rahl and the log will testify to that as well. This leaves Kitra and Rahl who are the catalysts to my outguilding, but not the cause. Rahl threw a tantrum in a post just prior to quitting in which he raved about me poisoning the guild. In fact his exact words were "I see now that Clryssa has infected you all with her ideals of apathy and non loyalty." This seems to suggest that people were agreeing with me and not him, hence the tantrum.

(Charnley) Well, no more. I am putting an end to the farce that this guild is subjecting itself to. And if I lose 1 Druid and get to keep a whole lot more for the action then I am going to do it.

(Charnley) So no outguilding of Kitra, and no apologies either. This guild is not disgusting. What is disgusting is the attitude of some of it's members who think that they can force their views and opinions down others throats.

(Charnley) And before I get a spew of posts telling me what a tyrant I am, I ask you to consider this. How many other GM's would even bother to let you know why they carried out their actions in running the guild? How many other GM's would give you all the chance to set out the rules and policy of the guild itself? Zandramas, I believe, has only 4 members on his council at present - 3 when Kitra left temporarily. This guild is about cooperation and effort, which sadly seems lacking from the most outspoken members.

---Actually I have served under 4 GMs, 3 priests and you, Charnley, and am friends with a few others. Not a single one "rules" his guild in the way you do. Even one whom I do not always see eye to eye with, I still respect the way he turns to his guild to make sure he represents their interests and does not just push his own views over everyone. Furthermore, I wrote and submitted to Zandramas, at his request, a synopsis of my ideas about a way to organize the meetings in which all voices will be heard not just the loudest. Which he commented were just what he had envisioned. It seems I was quite willing to cooperate and gave a lot of effort.-----

(From Charnley's post) Penned by my hand on the 7th of Chronos, in the year 224 AF.

-----I guess this boils it all down to the fact that a couple of druids didn't like me, including Charnley. If being liked by every member of the guild was a requirement for remaining in a guild, there would be no guildmembers period. The fact that I rose to a guildlevel 10 in a relatively short period of time also suggests that I was acting in a way that was supportive to the guild and its members.------

------I find it particularly curious that the very thing that Charnley says he ultimately outguilded me for he is guilty of himself: At least one druid has quit because of him, I and others get tells and messages from disgruntled druids about him and have heard many talk about leaving to escape his tyranny. So Charnley, you are guilty of the very offense you have deemed punishable by outguilding. Do you step down or do you stand tall in your hypocrisy?-----

I thank you all for your patience in reading this and may Oneiros grant you all his peace.

Clary
