Dear Othival,

If that is truly how you view Cyrene's actions, then I dare not attempt to convince you otherwise. Truly, your conviction runs deep, and your justifications ring true in your ears. I see Cyrene's actions very differently from you. If you believe you are acting with justice, I will not attempt to dissuade you from this path.

But I will warn you that when the common denominator of a problem seems to be either "everyone else" or "Cyrene", it may be time to re-evaluate your own viewpoint.

I, as an outsider, watch Cyrene with eyes unclouded by Cyrenian propaganda. You do not. A long, long time ago, when I was Cyrenian myself, I often looked to those who left the city and those who criticised the city and said we must ask ourselves what Cyrene did wrong. I recommend adopting the habit. Being too quick to leap to one's own defense often means leaping before one looks.

'Ware the pitfalls of not looking.
