To the imp mage Haarkon:

We appreciate your intended service at the first Seleucarian Debate series, and commiserate upon the temporary sojourn of Death's Halls you were made to undertake.

It is in consideration of your understandable agitation that I shall disregard your veiled threats to appeal to an imaginary higher power; the affairs of the Asterian Restoration are and always will be our own.

The subject of your frustration has already suffered a death once - and quite immediately - after her murder of yourself. Thus is a life for a life traded, and no further will be required.

We have also impressed upon her the importance of observing the global agreement of non-violence that enables the affairs of the Restoration to proceed unimpeded: one which we reiterate to the world at large today.

To Sapience:

Alongside rare glimpses of intelligent discourse and meaningful debate, there will also come words spoken in ignorance, in insult, in provocation, as the inevitable accessory of any discussion. It is the entire reason for the founding of the Restoration, and underlines the necessity of our purpose: to elevate the populace by the free exchange of knowledge, so that we can focus our arguments on higher matters.

On an everyday basis, we are quick enough to leap to slaughter at the slightest provocation. The Restoration hopes to provide a space for an alternative by fostering an environment where steel is not the default. In this particular arena, let clashes of intellect be settled through word instead of blade, and the blight of ignorance be eradicated through education instead of elimination.

There is, of course, a line. Any who arrive with sole and direct intent to sabotage and disrupt disregard the spirit of the Restoration and are not subject to our protections, nor are they welcome to our events. However, this must be proven beyond doubt, and the instigator display an adamant refusal to leave or change their behaviour despite warnings, before the last resort of violence is justifiable to invoke.

I will not expend more parchment outlining exactly where this line begins and ends, for there are too many who enjoy skirting its boundaries and ignoring the spirit in which it exists. If in doubt, refer all issues to myself. Turn first to your self-control, however, and allow thought to process for a moment before speaking; if what you have to say is not useful, it is likely best not said. If you must develop and act on a vendetta, do not bring this into our boundaries.

Note: We cannot and do not presume to impose this agreement upon the Divine, Whom are a law unto Themselves. If your speech is deemed egregious enough to earn Their expressed wrath, that, therefore, shall encompass judgement entire.

Many of you have expressed enjoyment of the Festival to myself, and further such endeavours are only possible by continued collective adherence to this agreement. I trust this is the last I shall have to speak on the matter. I am sure you agree that our energies are much better spent elsewhere.
