Hail all!
With the Asterian Restoration in partnership with the Guild of Knights coming up, the Order of the Eastern Sacraments will be hosting a Dueling Tournament by the Guild Rules.
Honourable Duels are sacred to our tradition, for it is a test of courage and skill to meet an opponent in single combat, and a test of honour to meet victory or defeat with grace. Simplified for the purposes of this tournament, there are three key stages of the duel:
1. The flyting
The participants shall greet each other by title and as equals, and shall state their challenge to the other in a form of flyting.
The flyt, sometimes known as the 'verbal sparring', is a formal exchange of insults, often poetic and extravagant where the goal is to outwit your opponent with witty and often crude language. If you questions about this, please do not ask Aeowynn, but send your questions to better flyters such as Ser Aerek, Sir Aodfionn, and Sir Arador instead. Thank you.
ie. For examples which tend to appear organically, think about what Legionnaire Blonk writes upon the poetry boards, or what Dread Hand Aegoth might shout.
2. The raiment
True to the rules of the Honour Tournament, the combatants shall turn over all their artefacts or other items of power that may impact the duel to the witness. Hand-forged weapons shall be used for the duel. For any who use artefact armour, the paragons are to be removed. For classes such as depthswalker or priests where hand-forged weapons are not available, their competitor may choose to keep hold of their artefact weapon or another artefact of equivalent value to level the playing field as much as possible.
Magi who own an omnicore must remove one gemstone of their choice from their staff.
Please bring your own equipment!
3. The duel
The duel shall begin at the witness' command, and shall be fought to a starburst, a courtesy that allows for the quick conclusion of the yield. However, the abilities that bypass a Starburst are not forbidden, and simply require a wait as they are resurrected and return to the site. Abilities that would prevent a death, such as Soulcage, shall be deactivated.
