An open letter to the editor of the Empire Examiner

To the Editor of the Empire Examiner,

Lo-da'i. I read your recent issue of the Empire Examiner with a mixture of concern and tired familiarity. It seems once again that the allure of drama has outpaced any desire for fairness.

Publishing an anonymous letter filled with sweeping accusations and pointed invective does not make for courageous journalism. It makes for easy scandal. The decision to grant such a voice a public platform, without accountability or scrutiny, is not harmless. It fosters division, sows distrust, and encourages a kind of whispering theatre that has no interest in truth.

If someone truly believes in what they are saying, let them sign their name. If they cannot or will not, perhaps it is worth asking whether their words should be printed at all. No one is above being questioned, but questions should be asked openly and honestly, not tossed into the wind to land any which way.

Eleusis is no stranger to criticism. We welcome it when it comes in good faith. What we do not welcome is gossip dressed up as righteousness, or anonymous screeds that care more for attention than understanding. If your paper wants to hold people to account, it must be willing to hold its sources to the same standard.

In Service to Eleusis,

Speaker Ilsefi Stormsong

Penned by my hand on the 13th of Aeguary, in the year 976 AF.
