The Druids

As founder of the Druids I am deeply shocked by the recent events. Never before has the leadership of any guild, especially not the normally quiet Druids, been debated and argued so publicly.

Until now I had not doubted Charnley's sanity. Certainly he is draconian and to begin with I felt that was no bad thing, considering how relaxed the Druids guild used to be. But now he has dismissed from the guild both Claryssa and Portis, two Druidesses that I have watched with interest over recent months. These two are, or were, without doubt the most balanced and clear thinking I have seen in this guild in a long time.

Portis I have known for years, since she first joined my struggling guild almost 40 years ago. I have nothing but the utmost respect for her. Claryssa I do not know well, save that Sarapis and Oneiros have both praised her wisdom.

Ejecting them from the Druids guild is a great mistake and I anticipate that other guilds may be considering offering them the positions and honours that they deserve. Letting them go shows that Charnley has quite clearly gone mad and cares far more for his own power than for the good of the Druids guild or the forests of Achaea.

I no longer am concerned directly with the actions of the Druids guild since I my departure from their ranks several months ago, but I suggest that the Druids themselves take control of their situation, presumably by challenging Charnley's leadership (though there are other options).

For the record, my departure from the Druids guild had nothing directly to do with Charnley. I was sickened by what the Druids as a whole had become. They are now a joke, impersonal and with little respect for nature or the forests. Greed for money and power motivates them more than I have ever seen before. I wanted no more to do with such a group of individuals, and I felt too old to play power games with Charnley or be a pawn in his struggle for power (incidentally it has been pointed out that my name has been used more than once in recent Druid posts).

If a resolution is not found soon, I shall eagerly begin meddling in the affairs of the Druids guild again.
