The Doomguard - Chivalry and honour

Sapience -

Earlier this month, I was attacked by five Eleusians. I did not raise my swords to them although I believe the altercation was unintentional, as we had been at arms a short period before. Upon my return to life, I made my intentions clear through shouting challenges. Much to my chagrin, I was then accosted by the likes of Dominius, Drefan, and Avianca regarding my 'chivalry' and 'honour'. You are not the first, nor the last that will question me in such a manner.

Such remarks hold no sway with me, however I began to think to myself: Am I dishonourable, and do I lack chivalry? The answer, of course, is no. I fight honourably every single day. I live, breathe, eat, and sleep honour. You may ask the many who I slay, I do so with honour. I thought 'Am I unchivalrous?' and to that I say no as well. I am not kind, I am not benevolent. I am as violent as I am pitiless. Many know me as such, but no one can claim to know me as a coward. As sure as Oblivion marches ever onwards towards Creation, should you assault Ashtan, the Court, or the shrines which the faithful of Ashtan worship at you will find me, swords in hand and duty in my heart.

So if I am not wrong, are you?

No. You are not wrong. Likely you see examples of honour and chivalry in knights that use violence as a last resort. Perhaps knights that are kind and caring. Benevolent, passive. Whatever they are, they are not me. Ashtani knights have a storied history of violence and passion.

People will continue to use these words against me in some vain attempt to injure my reputation or bring me down. It likely will not work. Those who fight me and know my tenacity also know my fairness and willingness to assist and help others grow. But as is a core tenant of the Doomguard:

Let no indignity go unpunished. - An eye for an eye. We do not take insult or injury lying down. We do not turn the other cheek. We will fight for that which we hold dear.

Let it be known that the Doomguard will be an order of knights with martial prowess - do not make the mistake of disrespecting one of ours. We will have justice.
