A better way

Eleusis,

I am unsure where to begin this post...

Several days ago after Hashan's forces left your village I returned to my ship to finally find sleep. I thought it would come easily to me, a job well done and a response to the over-whelming odds you brought to bear earlier that same month. Instead of a deep slumber I found myself tossing and turning with thoughts of the friends I used to know from Eleusis. Thoughts of the times we had, the excitement as they showed me the secret places in nature where beauty met splendor and the pride I felt as I turned our telescopes towards the stars to share the cosmos... I'm rambling and I value your time. Suffice to say I miss my friends from the Village and hate the knot of bile and anger I cannot help but feel.

This cycle we find ourselves in is not sustainable. You bring double our numbers, so we wait until the advantage is ours to strike, and so you return and on and on and on. We hand back and fourth a baton of righteousness and vengeance all while neither side takes a victory of any real meaning.

This is not a plea for peace, and I'd be a fool to try and unravel centuries of conflict in a single post. It is however a call for civility and respect between our forces. A shift in paradign away from victory at all costs to a well earned and fought victory.

I am offering you a clean slate Eleusis. No more eye for an eye and blood for blood. Let us find honor and equal footing in our next battle. I wish to dance in the Darkenwood with my friends once more and get a full eight hours of sleep.

In good faith,
Shadow Centurion Augtavian Lockwood.

Penned by my hand on the 17th of Mayan, in the year 888 AF.
