The end result

Not unexpected, but disappointing.

They once said Verrucht divided Cyrene, but he never caused a schism like this one. They once said Cyrene was lost when the Tsol'teth conquered it, but even back then, the people were stalwart. Now? Cyrene is divided into two camps, and is on the verge of collapse, and this Imperiate is entirely responsible.

The Imperiate seems proud of this result. She won by 9 votes after at least 8 of the city's populace left because they couldn't stand to be affiliated with her leadership anymore. She calls this result a "confident majority". It's certainly a steep drop from the 72% she had before now isn't it? But after 50 years of lip service, self-serving governance, loyal thought enforcers, and a pet Senator, what do we expect? At least SOME people have to be able to see through her lies and corruption.

Lady Pandora, I offer my congratulations. The security of Your Wayward Heights is no longer in doubt. My Lord will not endorse a city that is run by those to whom The Ends Justify the Means. By those who see dabbling with the Chaotic arts as a fancy. But let's be honest, that was their intention all along, to drive Him from the city. That's certainly backfired hasn't it? Best we recognize the Lady of Wayward Heights now, fellow citizens of Sapience, and Her rule over the old gardens, for it isn’t going anywhere.

I have read quite a bit, paid very close attention to the goings on, and I am well aware that Keorin and her motley band of thought enforcers and charlatans blame this schism on Lord Phaestus "overreacting". Aye, abiding by His Ethos and values and standing up for Creation is "overreacting", an opinion not surprising coming from people who stand for nothing but self aggrandizement. Let me be clear, Cyrene has always enjoyed having the Divine as a useful tool, a suitable means of getting things done - a discardable utility they could change on a sovereign and never feel any connection to. Cyrene is not a theocracy, nor were they ever going to be, but they have always gone one step further and never truly respected or appreciated their Divine Citizens. The city has taken the blessings of their Divine Citizens for granted, and now they see the result of such frustration, occupation by a Goddess Herself, and None willing to help them, and why should They support such ungrateful people?

As of this moment, I will begin seeking and discussing opportunities to build a new colony, a new settlement. To the Cyrenians that have lost faith that there is hope for your city, or refuse to give this embarrassment any legitimacy, you are welcome to join me. Let us build something better, something that would make those who built Cyrene proud, for the city now, is a pale shadow of what it was, and nowhere close to the greatness it could have and should have become, but will never achieve.

To the rest, and to this Imperiate, remember well that you are tenants on His mountain. Tread lightly with what you do from here, lest you find yourselves in arrears, and cast into the Muurn for your continued insults to Him and outright denial of what He has done for the city He let be built on His mountain, for the city He has guarded and supported for centuries.

Signed,

Sir Eril Rian-Moonshadow, Hand of the Smith
