Kuriel, Jinsun, Et All,

Firstly, I hope you take this post in the way it is meant, constructively and with what respect an old sailor can muster, and not as an insult or the start to a fight. I'll be the first to sit down off in some tavern and discuss things amicably over a bottle of rum.

That said, I read your latest post with some consternation. Directly after, I went to read your High Clan mission statement in HELP POM. What did I find? I found that your post conflicts with the official and still-stated mission. Your mission statement still specifies those who pay will be safe from pirates (ask me why I scoff at this. Really, ask me, Kuriel!). It's all well and good for a Pirate to make such a statement as you have made, but I must ask exactly how much truth there is to it, if the official stance of the Pirates of Meropis has not changed. I also ask by what virtute the Pirates of Meropis hold on to their High Clan status, if they no longer operate by the posted charter by which they obtained such recognition from the Gods.

I do not disagree with your assessment that the Pirates have skill and are fine teachers when they choose to be. However, for all that you tell us you DON'T do, you've failed to tell us what a Pirate DOES do. What separates a Pirate from a sailor? What separates a Pirate from any other Privateer? What are your requirements to join the Pirates?

If you can't answer these questions, then I fail to see why any should take your High Clan as anything but one that is petering out and has a few skilled seafarers and is looking for more, wherever you can find them. But until you clean up the contradictions in the messages your clan puts out to the public, expect very little change from anyone.

Regards,
