Argwin,

I am not really interested in a back and forth, but I believe the logic underlying your argument is a little faulty. You speak as if the Lord Commander's Patronage of an Eleusian House was somehow a result of Ashtani interests and politics at play. To even imply that a Divine would be so beholden is disingenuous at best. If you look a little closer, you'll notice those organizations who bear the honour of His Patronage actually do so because they have proved their bested interest in Conflict. Yes, that much, they all share in common. Be the Shield in Cyrene, the Vanguard in Ashtan, or the Scions in Eleusis.

But what they all pursue, their end goals, is ultimately vastly different. The Shield's concern is almost exclusively the protection of Cyrene. The Vanguard, on the other hand, seeks the spread of chaos and ruin. And then there is the Scions, which pursue the protection of Nature. You know this. We all know this. Whether you believe they are actually good at it or not does not change the fact that their aims are different.

Nor does it change the fact that your City has given them all reasons to hate it, to relish fighting it however they can. Actual reasons that go well beyond the sharing of the same Patron. You yourself are part of Ashtan's late animosity towards Hashan, and you know this, too. Cyrene sees Hashan as guilty by association in regards to the occupation of their home. And as for the Scions and Eleusis, well... That one's long and historied and I am sure you'd easily find a history book or two on the subject.

Eleusis and Ashtan did fight together against the Tsol'teth, but its not like such coalitions have not been formed in the past around similarly momentous events, with wildly different participants in both sides. Such do not usually last, and I do not see any evidence this one did either.

So no, its not all just one big Ashtani conspiracy. Just a lot of disparate reasons for why different individuals fight you, sometimes together, but more often than not rather separately.

Sincerely,
Shirszae Nynniaw,
Warbringer of Aegis
