Throughout every anniversary games, adventurers from around Sapience train and compete in a number of different skills. But Seleucar was not founded by hunting or tumbling, and Nicator himself, though he was one of history's greatest generals, was not known for his strength in the arena or as an explorer.

Instead, the most important skill of Nicator was his use of words and his vision, and it was his debates with Severian across the continent that lead to the very founding of Seleucar.

It's unfortunate, then, that these fifty year celebrations of Seleucar's legacy does nothing to celebrate the skills of the first emperor and holder of the staff. And the best that usually passes for public debate are posts on these boards that people dread to read, or shouts during the middle of raids.

On this important anniversary, it's time that we fix that. And so, the Seleucarian Games will be hosting The Nikolas and Severian Debate Series, to celebrate the legacy of the first debates between Nikolas and Severian that caused all the rest to happen.

The Nikolas and Severian Debate Series will run throughout the rest of this year, giving a chance for talented speakers from every city to show their skills, and compete to be the champion orator of year 800!

As the legacy of Seleucar, and of those first debates, lives on in every city of this continent, we're looking for a representative from each city to take part in this debate series! We already have one from Mhaldor and Ashtan, so if you're from any of the other cities and this historic event interests you, please let me know in a tell!

The series will begin with several exhibition debates, held between different city's ideologies in different places throughout the world. These debates won't be scored, but are meant to give the people participating and watching a chance to get used to the format, as well as to see the talents of everyone who's come to take part.

From there, the series will move into a final tournament near the end of the year, where the representatives will debate the following topic: "Why does your city best carry on the legacy of the Seleucarian Empire". The results will be judged by a panel made of members of all cities. to best determine the champion orator of the year 800.

Obviously, debating events like this are quite rare, and so we're having to develop a format just for this event. We will be using the early debates to refine it, and so it will be explained in more detail at each of the exhibition debates!

And of course, no debates or oration would be complete without an audience, to watch, listen, and ask questions of the participants. So we hope you'll join us to for this historic event!

Ever Loyal,
Keorin, Commander of the Vashnars
