Second Players

This is an OOC post by me, a player of Achaea. I do not presume to speak for any of the immortals or administration of this game. I speak only from actions I have seen here, what I understand of Achaea's rules, my own experience with MUDs and roleplay as well as some common sense. If I am wrong in my assumptions or offend anyone, I humbly apologize to both the admin and players.

Having a second character is allowed here in Achaea. This is a privilege that is not allowed in many games, but having this privilege also carries a certain amount of responsibility both by the person who plays the two characters.. and those who play with the two characters.

If you are playing two characters, they are two DIFFERENT characters. What one may know or learn is NOT known by the other. While they do share a player.. they do not share a brain. And as they cannot both be online at the same time, they do not know each other. Additionally, one cannot help the other, as it states in the rules... this includes dishing out the punishment of the other. If one gets into an argument with someone, you cannot log off, bring on the stronger player and kill that person. This also means that if character A is in guild A and character B is in guild B, A cannot know the secrets of guild B and vice versa. So to make a character just to spy on another guild makes absolutely no sense... and is cheating.

On the other hand, I have heard others becoming suspicious and concerned because a player may be a second of another player.. usually an enemy. This should not matter IF the person playing both characters acts in a responsibile manner as listed above. If so, they are two different people who, as mentioned previously, cannot know each other, so the second character should not be treated with predjudice because of it.

Having a second player can add to the fun of the game and alleviate the boredom that sometimes comes with a long-lived character. I have sometimes played a second character that I knew would not be long lived.. just to liven my roleplay up without giving up the character in which I have invested a lot of time. I guess what I am saying is... Enjoy the privilege that the admin here have given.. but don't abuse it.

Thanks for the time taken to read my 2 cents.
