Darkness and Light

Caliph,
It has often been the case, whenever I gaze upon the stars, that they
seem to twinkle with the algid melancholy of a million tears against the
darkened firmament--for it is true that the darkness is vast and empty,
but each mote of light to which it plays host is also lost within that
atrous mire, burdened by knowledge of the contradiction of its presence
there.
One day, yes, the darkness will be eliminated, and on that day, the
stars will also be snuffed out. Whether you revel in the shadows or
rejoice at the dawn, as you feast your eyes upon the sky, Creation and
all of its wonders continues to slip steadily away beneath you.
In the end, the most insurmountable power is neither that which goes
unseen, nor that which does not--it is that which overwhelms your senses
entirely.
