Chaos and Evil

Two hundred sixty-six years ago, in the wake of Sartan's abandonment,
the Occultists unearthed the gruesome details of our history that
facilitated restoration of the ancient art that had been lost to us.
While the Church is most often credited with having destroyed the
knowledge of Occultism, the onus is not theirs alone to bear. With so
many common enemies, and with the convenient assurance of victory when
our forces combine, it is easy for modern occultists to forget that the
necromancers also had their share of crimes for which they were forced
to answer. It was the bastard son of Belladona, after all, who
slaughtered any cabalist who refused to renege upon their commitment to
Chaos.
Having kept this history close to my heart, I must applaud Lord
Shaitan's decision, for it serves to remind my Occultists of Evil's
folly, and relieves me, once again, from the tiresome duty of forcing
pleasantries in the company of those who are far too unenlightened to be
deserving of them. Like the dogs of the East, our Western neighbours
have glimpsed the power of Chaos, and they are terrified of what they
have seen. Those who toil beneath the yoke of Oppression, and their
brothers whose wrists chafe within the manacles of Suffering, must
realise that it is the very bondage they so glorify which prevents them
from attaining the goal outlined within the first Truth of Evil. One
simply cannot spur the advancement of sentient life when one's potential
is controlled by shortsighted Divinities and polarised dogma.
The wild creatures whose species have longest prospered are the
opportunists--the animals that are able to discern the chance to improve
their station, and sieze upon it without hesitation. The tenets of
Suffering and Oppression have undeniable merit, but their utility is
limited by the mundane ambitions sponsored by the Twin Lords. To strive
to rule this feeble, moribund Creation is the ultimate exercise in
futility. In the moment when ever-creeping Chaos opens wide its maw and
devours Sartan's Isle, the citizens of Mhaldor will finally be made to
understand that the creed sequestered within the black basilica is as
hollow as the naive idealism once represented by its Eastern
counterpart.
Today, I extend an invitation--to the slaves of Oppression and
Suffering, to the wanton doxies of Sin, to the puerile and irascible
followers of Lady Keresis, who waste their lives in pursuit of
irrelevant Vengeance: abandon weakness, and display the fortitude and
conviction you claim to espouse. Do not stop short of enlightenment.
Come North, to the sole Bastion of Freedom upon Sapience, and tread the
path of ultimate power. Chaos awaits.
