Echo's Voice

Greetings everyone,

I happened to be present to hear the comment which landed Echo in
disfavour with our Lady of Chaos.

She said, "Murder helps Chaos" or something to that effect.
Afterwards, the Goddess-Queen of Confusion asked Echo to explain
her statement. Echo requested pause to allow her collect her
thoughts. What happened next was hidden from public view until
it was made known of Echo's inforced silence.

I may soon find myself in the same unfortunate circumstance as Lady
Echo, but I have chosen to attempt what she, under duress and
restricted time, failed to do for the Goddess.

"Murder helps Chaos"

We must first agree on the definitions of the terms.

murder: the unlawful killing of an individual
chaos: the absence of order
help: to assist in doing or attaining; to service

It is obvious that an increase in the rate of murder is an increase
in the rate of lawlessness. (The same can be said for any crime.)
Laws are a means by which a government maintains order. Should one
not follow a law, it thus decreases the effectiveness of the
government's maintenance of order. Consequently, chaos is
introduced into this order. So it can be said that each murder
(or other crime) helps Chaos.

This is not a complete logical proof, but the process can be worked
through intuitively.

I have only addressed what seemed to be the direct cause of Echo's
punishment. Unfortunately, if you listened to the first of the
conversation, you might determine another cause.

The Mistress of Disorder was describing Her stance on the killing
of individuals within Her temple. She explained that this conduct
would not be punished as such actions are natural within the cycles
of life and death.

So, when a comment such as "Murder helps Chaos" is made at this
moment, it carries the implication that Lady Chaos is advocating
murder within her temple. This slight may be a contributing cause
or perhaps even the primary cause of Echo's punishment.

For this, I cannot offer a defense. One can only hope that the
unpredictable nature of the Goddess shall prove favourable and that
she will grant leniency.
