hypocrisy

Fyr,

No matter how much you deny it, or how you justify it by blaming your
blind faith in your Gods, the simple fact is, no city is incapable of
being hypocritical.

Hypocrisy is quite clearly and simply defined as saying one thing and
doing another. Mhaldor preaches strength and discipline; the Seven
Truths themselves set out laxity of discipline as an enemy of strength.
I would find it laughable and nigh impossible to believe that anybody -
even one such as you - would claim that Ashtan, that famed hovel of
gluttony, lust, envy and base stupidity, is not the very hallmark of lax
discipline.

People have mocked Mhaldor for a long time over their dependence on the
city that kicked them out in the first place, but never before have your
leaders so openly and publicly admitted and embraced their shortcomings
- and for that, as I said so long ago in my missive to Des when he was
your Minister of War, I do respect them. I will make mock, certainly,
but it takes bravery to admit even personal failings: to admit the
failings of your entire city so openly shows true courage from Mhaldor's
new leaders.

Indeed, even from you, though I'm sure you posted mostly out of
ignorance and your insatiable desire to see and hear your own words, it
takes a level of fortitude of which I previously thought you incapable
to so willingly defend and accept these public admissions.

So again, truly, hats off to all of you, and long may this streak of
honesty and consideration for the public amusement continue.

Always,
