A folly revisited

Written by: Nulaye Vastel, Vindicator of Hate

There are certain inevitabilities that we all learn early-on in life to
accept. Shallam will tear itself apart with an efficiency unmatched by
the efforts of Evil, Cyrene will, when not tangled in the endless
pitfalls of democracy, rot in self-satisfaction and champion everyone
else's causes while hiding under the skirts of that whore known as
neutrality. Eleusis has, time and time again, proven that her citizens
are beyond any control by their own leadership - on the one hand
preaching morality and restraint while the other grasps desperately at
any and every chance to scrape together a victory, no matter the cost in
dignity and respect.

Speaker Ravien's declarations go unheeded. She is frail and powerless
and her citizens snigger behind her back while her every order is
discarded as inconvenient. This is not surprising, nay, only to be
expected after so many decades of disappointment. I would suggest to the
forestals possessed of any wit whatsoever that the time has come to
elect your true leader to the office he has held unofficially for well
over a century.

Rangor has, for the fourth time, erected the stag crown and made
attempts at destroying Mhaldor's icons. Misdirecting his allies with
fragile falsehoods, he has tricked them into believing his cause noble
and his hands tied in the face of aggression. This is not so. Know well
what you defend, and what you choose to attack, and the consequences of
doing so.

We have made a mistake in turning our attentions away from the forestal
community at large. Over time the cries of wanting to be left alone, of
unfairness and dishonour and untold damage to the natural world drove us
to find elsewhere the sort of enemies we seek - those that may
strengthen us from within as well as without - strong, cunning and
steadfast. It is not a mistake that will be made again.

If it is aggression you desire, and conflict you crave, Mhaldor will be
pleased to provide and to meet you in kind. The forests will be burned
to ash once more. The flames of Perdition will sweep the land. Nothing
and no one who joins in this foolish crusade will be spared the icy
touch of necromancy. Reflect well, and look to your leaders who so
thoughtlessly toss Nature aside for self-interest yet again.

In Their eternal service,
Nulaye Vastel, Tyrannus.

Penned by my hand on the 23rd of Sarapin, in the year 529 AF.
