Re: Forging Contest

Hail, people of the world.

Every month I pass many in the streets of the cities or on the great
highways who bear swords or axes, carry shields, and who wear
armour. Every month I see many who can boast of the ability to craft
the impressive fieldplate armour which is the hallmark of only the
most highly trained smiths.

No mortal would have the skill to make these were it not for the
generous teaching of Lord Phaestus, the Smith, who brought the dwarves
the art of forging in far distant ages. Whether Paladin, Infernal, or
Runewarden, thanks and praise are owed to Him by all those who shape
metal, for that gift at least if nothing else.

So why is it that I am informed that so few have stepped forward as
competitors in the contest that Trey has striven to organise in honour
of Lord Phaestus (PUBLIC #17761)? Is a mere day spent praising Him
with the sound of hammer striking anvil too great a challenge? Do you
consider your skills with such disdain that you cannot spare even so
little time to thank Him for your talents?

To those who will compete: may the Great Smith smile on your work, and
guide your hammer blows to make your labour fruitful.

Those who merely wish to watch the competition in progress, talk with
your friends as they work, or find out more about the Smith are very
welcome to come to the Temple to do so.

For the Hammer!
