This is pointed to a certain clan head who was talking about me
regarding this very topic behind my back. In times before when she chose
to talk about me, I took the higher ground and ignored it. However, this
is a bit more serious than "Madelyne is mean because she makes her
students -- le gasp -- do their work." And besides, the information in
general is just good to know.
Art comes in many forms. Of course there are the Bardic and Artisanal
contests, and then there are the more literal forms of art which you may
see when reading a journal, letter, or even some plaques or signs, et
cetera.
Anyone who chooses to plagarise in the Art contests held by the Garden
risks facing life in a vegetative state (i.e. shrubbery) for their
efforts. In Ty Beirdd, members who plagarise and/or violate copyright
are cast from the house. Therefore, I have and would never do anything
to intentionally violate the boundaries of art that is created by
another person. I give credit where credit is due whenever it is
mortally possible.
Take for instance the two pictures below:
/|\ . _ _
//|\\ _ //` `\
//^||\\ _,-"\% // /``\`\
//^^|||\\ ~^~ >__^ |% // / } `\`\
//^^^||||\\ ) )%// / } } }`\`\
<-----------> / (%/'/.\_/\_/\_/\`/
\\~~~|***// ( ' `-._`
\\~~|**// \ , ( \ _`-.__.-;%>
\\~|*// /_`\ \ `\ \." `-..-'`
\\|// ``` /_/`"-=-'`/_/jgs
\|/
On the left, the elemental diamond (Divine Symbol of Agatheis, the
Elemental Lord) is my own original creation. However, I chose not to
take credit, leaving it under the status of "public doman" (or, free for
public use). The dragon on the right, however, has initials which give
credit to the orginal author - be it someone in this realm or elsewhere.
So now everyone knows, when I leave the initials I am not trying to make
the sketch less beautiful and I'm hardly being lazy about using the art.
When you see the initials you can know that in truth, I am giving credit
to the original artist and all their hard work.
Cheers!
Madelyne Ech'lir
Postscript -- The reason why this is a general post is to clear up any
misunderstanding which might've arisen from those present in the clan of
the aforementioned clan head when she was recently spouting her
opinions.
Penned by my hand on the 19th of Lupar, in the year 467 AF.
