Ashtan, Bastion of the North

As per your requirement for approval of my re-induction, I am posting an
apology to the city of Ashtan. I daresay, there is much I need to
apologize for. I was an inconsistent, fickle, and moody Archon at best,
and I was spooked out of office and out of the city by the juvenile
attempts of a group of muckrakers to discredit my actions. I displayed
selfish immaturity, and in the process did a great disservice to the
city of Ashtan and all that she stands for.

However, I will not admit to, or apologize for, a crime that I did not
commit. I will not lie-- I tried to have you kicked out of the city. I
was working based on evidence that I had received, which later, after my
departure from Ashtan, I found to be partially false. At the time of my
infamous discussion with the Overseer, I believed wholeheartedly that
the information at my disposal was factual and I considered you to be a
risk to the city. Therefore, I owe you a personal apology for the
defamation of your character, which I readily offer. I will admit that I
was wrong.

The definition of a crime, especially in a city so liberal and so
inclined toward the preservation of individual freedom, is deeply rooted
in the intention of the individual. I was not cast out of Ashtan for
treachery and I was not branded an enemy for conspiracy against her
citizens. By your logic, not only would I have been, but the individuals
guilty of sullying my good name would also be subject to the same
punishment. Yet I hear no one clamoring for their public humiliation.

I apologize to you personally, Askiva, and hope that we can put aside
our differences to work together for the sake of Ashtan. That is the
best I can offer.

Regards,
