Repudiation

Being a current and past follower of Twilight, I was contacted by Rho
today to publicly repudiate, or suffer the wrath of the most sacred and
holy institutions in this land. An institution that I have always
struggled to find compromise with, yet maintained a deep respect for
their beliefs and principles. My history with the church spans
centuries, and I could fill volumes with stories of conflict and
compassion, wisdom and imbecility, and tears of joy and pain.
I am newly awakened to the new world. Very little is recognizable, and I
have been enjoying seeing old friends, and making new ones. I have heard
the rumblings of many about the church, and it seems to be the topic of
conversation. I have been touched with a bit of imbecility myself by
thinking that I shouldn't be concerned, nor want to care about the
endeavors the church embarks upon. The message received today by Rho was
a reminder that all things intersect eventually.
I spoke of respect for the church throughout my history with them. I
spoke of wise and honorable leaders within the church that never cherry
picked their time to enforce their beliefs. I spoke of conflict on a
scale that is surely to repeat itself in the face of such illogical
declarations. I spoke of being a current follower of Lord Twilight in a
time of true weakness due to His absence.
In conclusion, I will indeed submit to the requester. I, Thuergist
Element, Ignis Darke, follower of Darkness and Truth, do hereby
repudiate the church on the grounds that they seek to bring strife and
pain to those who would not reciprocate the same wishes to them or their
allies. This decree against my family is without merit, foundation, nor
cause. While it is but a subtle sidenote at best, I still respect the
foundation of beliefs the church was founded upon, however, I feel those
principles have been corrupted and bent to serve as power to a machine
of great strength and ability. To what end, it seems obvious. I do not
recognize this agent of oppression as correct authority, and until the
wisdom once held in the church returns to power, I will continue to
decline its authority.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Phaestian, in the year 458 AF.
