The Bystanders

During my travels, I once came across a gypsy gathering within the
village Manusha. Before a glowing campfire they spoke of ancient days
and their tribes previous nomadic existence. I was honoured to be
invited to join them. From this experience I offer these words to you,
which were shared then by Nadja regarding one of her ancestors
first-hand experiences with the ancient Church:

"First the Luminai came for the Cabals, but she was not an Occultist so
she said nothing. Then they came for the tarot users, but she was not a
member of the Carnivalis family, so she did nothing. Then they came for
the Necromancers, but she did not follow Belladona or her son Luxsyth so
she did little. But then when they came for her and her tribe, there was
no one left who could stand up for them."

You see, there are no real bystanders in war and such persecution. The
Churchs present day radical policies affect everyone just as the Burning
Times tore through our cities, through nature, and through the populace
of Sapience ages ago. To live under the assumption that you are beyond
this or somehow removed from it will only result in your own inevitable
oppression.

Whatever follows the unprecedented attack on Hashan's sovereign soil,
and the Anointed zealotry noted on these boards, know that the Spirit
Walkers of Hashan are proud to count Occultists among their number. We
stand beside these brethren, all of our Chaos-embracing membership, and
those members of the Crown of the Ithmia who the Church seeks to cleanse
of supposed wrongdoing. And though our number may be few, we will not be
spectators, mere witnesses to what transpires.

Let those who have eyes to see and ears to hear KNOW that we remember
the past ~ and will not standby to see it repeated.
