My apologies for this clumsy method of contacting you, but I could think
of no other way to proceed. Your proposal remains an intriguing one, but
I have little to gain by trusting you, and much to lose.

I require a token of your good faith. Provide information on your
identity, or the identity of those you serve; and, most importantly,
confirm the object of your current searches. I suspect I know the
answers to both of those questions, but I wish to hear the words from
your own mouth.

You, above all, should know that information is power; and a
satisfactory relationship demands that it flows both ways.
