Of Warps and Cancellation

To the Dawnstrider House:
As I have had to explain my position numerous times to individuals of
your House and city, I thought it might be helpful to state it here,
plainly, so that all can see.
By now, you will have seen that the Dawnstrider warp hub, has - at least
temporarily - ceased to exist in any meaningful sense. I am aware, of
course, that this places the hub of my own House at risk.
I am further aware that there is nothing as fruitless or tedious as the
tit-for-tat cancellations of proprietary warps. Why then, I hear you
cry, did you begin this course of action? The blame, of course, lies
with Saria, the Lady of the Morning.
I approached her to discuss the issue of our Shastaan warp, which has
been the subject of repeated cancellations and re-splicing as part of
the ongoing skirmishes over shrine placement. Of course, I understand
that this particular warp might well have been considered a special
case. However, Saria wished to reserve the right to remove any of our
warps which were placed close to shrines belonging to the Twin Masters.
This, of course, is unacceptable, given that over half of our warp hub
falls within this definition. What serpent could accept a proposal which
leaves his warp hub open to such levels of attack? I pointed this out to
Saria, in as polite a manner as possible.
At which point, she began, what I can only describe as a stream of
invective - quite outwith the bounds of courtesy and utterly inimicable
to negotiation. Those who know me, know that I hold courtesy to be
essential to productive dialogue, and I informed the Lady of the
Morning, that her tone (and her proposal described above) would make
further negotiation very difficult. Her response was that she simply did
not care. I further informed her that in the absence of negotiation,
only action could take its place. She further informed me that she did
not care for this risk to her hub, and resumed her insults.
It is my belief - has always been my belief, in fact - that this matter
can be solved easily, quickly and relatively amicably. However, it
cannot be solved with the attitude which Saria brought to the table. I
state my willingness, once again, to negotiate in good faith, provided
that a person other than the Lady of the Morning leads the negotiations,
or I receive a heartfelt apology from the Lady of the Morning and she
may continue to negotiate on behalf of her House.
I look forward to talking with those of calmer minds, who wish to avoid
this cancellation nonsense as much as I do.
