This comes of personal intrest to me. A rally call for Cyrenese to break
its treaty with Mhaldor from a soldier of Shallam. Speaking of breaking
treaties and making the first strike against a foe apparently poised to
destroy us at any moment.
Let it be noted that Mhaldor has kept to its treaty throughout the last
50 or so years, Let it also be noted that at this period conflict
between Mhaldor and Shallam has been constant, Icons seem to be merely a
new expression of it. That is of course, just my opinion.
Let it be noted for some time before my birth, that Shallam and Cyrene
have been allied, allied out of respect for each other, common
historical ties too, our very first leader was once from Shallam. As
much as many of the citizens came from Ashtan. We are still in
comparison quite a young city. These ties remain, we do not allow the
elements of the apostate and infernal in our lands, we treat those
studying occultism with caution, for a good reason.
But the battle between Shallam and Mhaldor began and exists primarially
because of the church's ideals. Ones that I will not pretend have
constantly baffled me through the ages.
We are allies of the city of shallam in my eye, people who mostly fight
because they have little choice, and fight well, not because they follow
the quest of evil's destruction, or chaos' destruction. The plot is
becoming a little hazy to follow.
We have fought alongside shallam, as shallam has, many times come to our
aid. You'll note Mhaldor and Cyrene have yet to jump to each others
aide.
Cyrene will not break a treaty for the benefit of the Church or even
shallam, we will not break a treaty even if it was to be of our greatest
advantage, we treasure what would be called honour for the runewardens,
a benevolent approach from the Mojushai, the Kindred know of the bonds
that make us kin to Shallam, the Tybierdd I feel would declaim the idea
of Cyrene throwing a punch first, the antithesis of our actual existence
of our city, one who has saught to be a place of peace, yet unlike a
city of neutrality, remember its ties and its honour to those it deals
with.
We will not break a treaty that is being upheld, like we will not break
a relationship with a city that holds true to their side. I had hoped
that your time as a Knight of Cyrene, that this lesson would have
remained within you Duane. I have been mistaken.
