Status quo

A few people have asked me to consider seeking citizenship in Shallam.
Even if Ashtan were not the superiour city there are plenty of reasons
why I'd rather not affiliate myself with Shallam. I'd like to share just
one of these reasons with everyone if I may.

Recently I came across a conversation between a prominent Mhaldorian
dragon and a vizier of Shallam. Deeva and Alinoe specifically. I thought
it was odd that they'd be so long in each other's company without blood
being spilt so I went to investigate. Sadly, I only caught the tail end
of their conversation as they were interrupted by the unfortunate
arrival of Silas and Rho. I can't blame them for being cautious however.
I would be too in their shoes.

After all, if I was a vizier of Shallam telling a Mhaldorian dragon that
I loved her and would still love her even if she did not supply me with
"myrrh, valerian and amazingly, ginger" I wouldn't want anyone walking
in on that conversation either.

Sadly, Inbhir Ness isn't the most private of locations to conduct
affairs. There's no telling who's listening from the shadows.

Whether the good people of Shallam have a problem with one of their
officials swooning over a Mhaldorian and murmuring sweet nothings in her
ears is for them to decide. Personally, I think there's a word for this
sort of behaviour, one that Shallamese have heard since the dawn of
time. Hypocrisy.

From the shadows,

Angaril Del-Amroth

Penned by my hand on the 12th of Miraman, in the year 436 AF.
