There have been many accidental holocausts.
By people being unaware of where they were, by clumsiness
or poor reflexes unable to catch themselves. Theses things
have happened to forestals and non forestals
it -is- a long
punishment for an accident, but accident or not Nature was harmed.
The law is set the way is, with Divine approval, because that
is the best way to handle it. The world is full of liars,
cheats and thieves, and even those not in this category,
are sometimes driven by panic to fudge the truth.
Oakstone does not have means to prove every story,
and the Divine should not have to.
Know the current laws for the land and abide them.
Accident or not, Nature was still harmed, everyone gets the same fine.



If you have the kind of power to do destruction, you damn well
better know the laws and be careful.
If you are careless, take the punishment as gracefully as you
can, it's still your fault.
Oakstone does not control forestals, it protects Nature.
This is the one of the other things people seem to harp on,
how Oakstone controls herbs and elixirs.
Oakstone does not control herb prices. Prices don't harm Nature.
Oakstone can not tell people who they can the sell to.
Selling to Joe Smiley who marks every tree in the land as his,
does not harm nature,..much. They cannot even force you not sell
to Oakstone enemies.
Oakstone does not make laws as they please.
Oakstone is not a city, they can not enemy someone because of
who you serve, who they don't like or for stealing.
Oakstone can not enemy someone for selling to a forest enemy,
they can not enemy you for whining, they can not enemy you for
killing their members, they can not enemy you for smelling
like a monkey's butt.
So
Don't harm nature and you'll be alright.
